Journey Cocktailbar Passau Menu: Classics, Creations, and Regional Signatures

The menu of the Journey Cocktailbar Passau is designed to cater to both connoisseurs of classic drink categories and curious explorers of modern creations. According to the official tourism information from Passau, the menu includes well-known classics and modern drinks, as well as original creations from the team. This results in a wide range: from timeless models like Manhattan, Old Fashioned, or Singapore Sling to interpretations with regional references. Publications about the bar highlight that the Journey Cocktailbar incorporates regional spirits from East Bavaria. In this context, creative signature drinks such as the Negroni Bavarese, based on local ingredients, the Donau Kracherl with a local liqueur note, or the Space Mojito, which plays with a Lower Bavarian accent, are mentioned. These examples show how the team uses classic recipes as a starting point to develop distinctive profiles with regional components. The cocktail menu is complemented by a selection of wines and beers as well as non-alcoholic alternatives for those who want to enjoy the evening in a relaxed manner. For small hunger, cold snacks are also provided – a “base” that, according to tourism information, is specifically aimed at framing the evening enjoyably without interrupting the bar's dramaturgy. A deeper dive into this menu concept reveals two principles: First, respect for tradition, expressed in solidly mixed classics; second, curiosity and a spirit of experimentation, reflected in regionally inspired signatures. This makes the Journey Cocktailbar a place where both classic drinking experiences can be reliably found and new combinations can be discovered – a claim that is manifested through the quality of the spirits used and the artisanal execution of the drinks. The availability of individual drinks may vary seasonally; the common thread remains: a curated selection that brings together classics and regionally grounded modernity.

Photos & Atmosphere: Old Town Vault, Stone Walls, and Light – This is What It Looks Like On-Site

Entering the Journey Cocktailbar Passau offers a consciously designed mix of tradition and modernity. Official descriptions highlight the combination of modern interior, historic stone walls, and a medieval vault, emphasized by a subtle yet effective light installation. This interplay makes the space an experience even without a single drink: The structure of the masonry brings depth and history, while the furnishings and lighting create a warm, contemporary stage. The bar regularly publishes insights in the form of photos: In the gallery on the website, you can find impressions from the bar and also documented evenings with live elements from previous years. This imagery complements the descriptions from the tourism information with visual impressions that show how the bar stages its atmosphere: atmospheric, yet clear; detail-oriented, but not overloaded. For guests planning their visit, photos are a valuable decision-making aid – they convey what seating options are available and what ambiance is created at different times of the day. Inside, there are around 50 seats available, and about 20 on the terrace, which allows for an additional setting outdoors during the warm months. This creates a choice between the more intense bar experience in the vault and the light, airy option on the terrace. Additionally, the team takes the visual presentation of the drinks seriously: Glasses, garnishes, and the play with color and clarity of the ingredients are visible elements that are just as convincing in the image as they are in the glass. Guests searching for “Journey Cocktailbar Passau photos” or “photos” will therefore find current impressions both on the website and on linked social media channels. In summary: The atmosphere is not a coincidence but part of the brand – a conscious framework in which the drinks work and where guests have the choice of whether to immerse themselves in the bar craft or prefer to sit quietly in the room.

Gin Tasting & Mix Courses: Learn, Taste, Mix Yourself – On-Site and Online

The Journey Cocktailbar Passau is not only a place to enjoy but also a place to learn. This is particularly evident in the offerings of tastings and courses. The official website lists a gin tasting that introduces beginners to the diversity of juniper spirits. It covers production, styles, and the sensory approach to tasting. A key part is the combination with different tonic water variants, demonstrating how strongly fillers shape the overall impression of a drink. The format is designed for about two hours; booking is done through the bar's online shop, which currently lists a price of €55. Additionally, the event page of the bar documents specific dates for 2025: For example, a gin tasting took place on April 13, 2025, on-site at Schustergasse 1, listed with time and participation fee. Beyond fixed scheduled events, there are further workshop offerings – for example, mix courses that teach the basics of shaking, stirring, and measuring, where participants are guided to create classics and modern drinks themselves. For those unable to attend in person, online courses are available: According to the website, ingredient lists and recipes are sent out, and the course runs via a provided link; thus, the Journey experience can be relocated to one's own living room. Additionally, the bar also appears in external educational offerings – for example, in cooperation with local educational providers that schedule cocktail workshops in the premises of the Journey Cocktailbar. The format not only conveys techniques but also a mindset: quality, care, and sensory perception as guiding principles behind every good drink. For those interested, it is advisable to keep an eye on the event page and the shop, as additional tastings or seasonal specials may be added. Overall, the course program shows how the bar expands its approach beyond the classic guest perspective: Not just serving, but sharing knowledge and sparking enthusiasm – from gin basics to tonic variations to independent recipes that sharpen the palate.

Capacity, Equipment & Special Features: 50 Seats Inside, 20 on the Terrace – Historical Shell, Modern Bar

The Journey Cocktailbar Passau is intentionally sized to be manageable. According to tourism information, there are about 50 seats available indoors, and around 20 on the terrace. This scale is part of the concept: enough space for atmosphere and interaction, yet intimate enough to effectively enhance the quality of the drinks and the attention of the team. The bar uses the historical shell – old masonry and an old town vault – as a stage and contrasts it with contemporary interior design. This creates an ambiance suitable for both a focused drink at the bar and conversations in small groups. In addition to the classic bar function, the Journey Cocktailbar offers workshops and tastings and also appears with a mobile bar service that caters to events outside its own four walls. For culinary accompaniment, small cold snacks are available, which are intentionally kept light to not overshadow the focus on the drinks. A great cocktail bar with an incredible selection, well-trained, very friendly bartender, and a nice owner. They also accommodate special requests. Unfortunately, the lovely evening was slightly spoiled at the end by a waitress with a too pro-Russian attitude. But this shouldn't deter anyone from visiting. Highly recommended 👍🏻🙂

Great, very long and diverse menu! The bartenders can also whip up anything you wish for that's not on the menu. Cocktails are well made and reasonably priced. For my taste, it's a bit too loud for deep conversations.

We've always loved going to Journey. Today we attended the Active Mixing Cocktails course and it was absolutely worth it. The insights behind the bar and the host's philosophy are priceless. They really value quality here. Looking forward to hopefully many more drinks in this location! ☺️

It's a nice location overall, but what really bothers me is the long wait for a cocktail. On Saturdays, you should expect at least a 20-30 minute wait (for a cocktail, mind you). When the cocktails do arrive (at a table of 5), they don't come at the same time, but rather staggered. So there's at least a 2-3 minute wait between them. They’re doing the Fitness Program Bar-Walking Deluxe here. Great for steps, bad for guests. Try using a tray, and you'll save a lot of kilometers and stress. But I must also say, if the waiters have too little to do, they could at least clean the corners where the LED battery-operated lamps are. (I can't light up a dirty corner!?)
