Cineplex Passau | Program today & Prices

The Cineplex Passau is the modern multiplex at Nibelungenplatz and one of the top addresses for cinema in Lower Bavaria. Eight air-conditioned halls, two ULTIMATE studios with Dolby Atmos and laser projection, comfortable double and single reclining sofas, as well as D-Box Motion Seats ensure that every genre from family films to action blockbusters can be experienced in the best possible quality. The location is ideal: directly opposite the Central Bus Station (ZOB) and with direct access from the Central Garage (Parking Level E-2), you can reach the cinema quickly on foot – dry and barrier-free. Seat-specific online booking, a €1 price advantage for online tickets, transparent upgrades (3D, Premium, D-Box), and flexible series like Sneak, Previews, or family offers make planning easier. Since showtimes and offers are based on the weekly program, a quick look at the current daily program is recommended before each visit. With telephone service, fair rules for seat occupancy, and a versatile snack and menu offer, Cineplex Passau is designed for relaxed movie nights with friends, family, or as a date.

Cinema program today and on the weekend at Cineplex Passau

If you want to know quickly, “what's showing today at the cinema?”, you can find the answer on the program overview for Passau: You can filter by date, so with one click you can view the shows “today”, “tomorrow” or specifically “Saturday”. The list provides start times, formats (2D/3D), hall information, and whether a show is taking place in the ULTIMATE studio or with D-Box. Through the hall view, you can immediately see which seats are still available – this way you can book precisely and avoid gaps according to the house's seating rules. Cineplex Passau covers a wide range with its eight halls: current blockbusters, arthouse titles from the region and the world, series like Sneak Preview, as well as event formats like opera or ballet broadcasts that work particularly well on the big screen. Families regularly discover child-friendly new releases and previews, including popular series with characters like Pumuckl or film adaptations like “The School of Magical Animals”, which may come into the program throughout the year depending on release dates. Anime and manga fans also find their highlight with special dates (e.g., film series and event screenings, which often include titles from the “Demon Slayer” universe). Since such special dates are in high demand, early reservation is worthwhile, especially if you want to choose D-Box seats. Conveniently, the program not only summarizes the shows of the Cineplex but also points to other partner houses in Passau, allowing you to compare offers at ProLi or Scharfrichter Kino if needed. Tip for the weekend visit: Especially the early afternoon shows are popular with families, while evening shows in ULTIMATE halls appeal to tech fans. Use the filtering options and the display of available seats to plan your experience exactly as you wish.

Tickets, prices, and seating categories: Save €1 online, clear upgrades

Buying tickets online is particularly convenient and also cheaper: Compared to the cinema box office, you usually save €1 on online tickets, and the online booking fee is already included. Reference values for online tickets at Cineplex Passau: Adults €10.00, Reduced €8.90 (e.g., for teenagers, students, people with disabilities, BFD, retirees, holders of the volunteer/Passau social card), children under 12 years €6.50. In addition, attractive special prices apply: On StudiKinoDay (Tuesday), students and schoolchildren pay €6.50 (loge/parquet), with the film deal, selected films are available at a special price every week, and the sneak preview can be booked from €6.00 (loge/parquet; upgrades may apply). Different conditions apply for special screenings, such as live broadcasts (Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House) or festivals. The seating categories are transparent: parquet, loge, or premium. Premium means electrically adjustable recliners with a liftable footrest and reclining position – the “first class” in the hall. For 3D screenings, an additional charge of +€3 applies; surcharges for longer films are tiered (+€0.50 from 125 min, +€1.00 from 135 min, +€1.50 from 150 min, +€2.00 from 170 min). ULTIMATE halls and D-Box Motion Seats are among the upgrades that enhance your experience, also with moderate surcharges. You can conveniently pay online; when purchasing, registration in the MEIN CINEPLEX account is provided, allowing you to manage bookings and quickly find your favorite seats. Important: Different prices may apply for special events; the information in the respective film offer is always decisive. Our tip: Check the price display directly in the seating plan, as category and any upgrades per seat are clearly visible there. This way, you avoid surprises and book exactly the comfort you desire.

Directions, parking, and public transport: centrally located at ZOB, direct access from the Central Garage

Cineplex Passau is located at Am Nibelungenplatz 5a, 94032 Passau – opposite the Central Bus Station (ZOB). This makes the cinema easily accessible by all bus lines of the Passau municipal utilities; schedules can be found on the municipal utilities' website. Those arriving by car benefit from direct access to the underground garage: Drive into the Central Garage at Nibelungenplatz and use the covered access from Level E-2 directly into the cinema. This is particularly convenient in rainy weather, with strollers, or if you want a safe connection later in the evening. Important for planning: The previous cooperation for parking ticket validation has ended after many years; therefore, calculate parking costs independently of the cinema ticket. For a stress-free arrival, we recommend being on site about 15 to 20 minutes before the start of the show – this leaves enough time for parking, ticket, and snack collection. If you combine bus and train, you can reach the entrance from ZOB in just a few steps. Bicycles can be parked well on site; barrier-free access is indicated. During major premieres and on weekends, the area around Nibelungenplatz is busier; during these times, it is worthwhile to arrive by public transport or to enter the garage earlier. The central location also brings the advantage of short distances to restaurants and cafes if you want to combine your cinema visit with a meal.

Seating plan, ULTIMATE technology, and D-Box Motion Seats: how to get the most out of it

With eight halls and over 1,000 seats, Cineplex Passau offers plenty of choice. The two ULTIMATE studios – Hall 1 and Hall 8 – set technical standards: Dolby Atmos provides precise, three-dimensional cinema sound with noticeable bass via ceiling and wall-mounted speakers; RGB laser projection delivers a bright, high-contrast 4K HDR image, impressive in 2D and spectacular in 3D. A Clarus silver screen and the CineAmbience lighting concept immerse the room in atmospheric colors that accompany the pre-program and breaks moodily. For comfort, double and single reclining sofas are available – ideal for leaning back or cuddling together. For action fans, D-Box Motion Seats provide the proverbial “feeling of being in the middle”: the seats move in finely graduated intensities synchronized with the action, which you can control via the armrest. D-Box seats are available in three halls at Cineplex Passau: Hall 1 (ULTIMATE) with 16 D-Box seats, Hall 3 with 12, and Hall 6 with 8. In Hall 1 and Hall 3, two seats are designated for wheelchair users. When selecting a seat, you can immediately see in the seating plan whether premium recliners, loge, or parquet are available; free seats are displayed in real-time. For the best image effect, loge seats at medium height are recommended, while premium recliners offer the most relaxed seating. In D-Box rows, a central position enhances the balance between movement and view of the screen. If you are sensitive to motion, start with low intensity – the control can be adjusted continuously or completely deactivated at any time. Those who value maximum acoustics benefit in the Atmos halls from a central seat slightly behind the sweet spot, where the sound dome is particularly homogeneous. This turns technology into real emotion – from quiet indie dramas to brutal chases.

Children's program, family offers, and menus: affordable cinema together

Families are explicitly welcome at Cineplex Passau. The “Family Deal” makes the joint cinema visit particularly affordable: For regular screenings until 4 PM and for films with FSK 0 or 6, up to two accompanying adults pay the same price as the youngest child in the presence of a child under 18. Simply select the tickets “Adult with U12 Family Deal” or “Adult with U18 Family Deal” during the booking process. Additionally, the series “Your First Cinema Visit” invites the youngest guests to experience cinema in a relaxed and age-appropriate manner – with reduced volume, no advertising block, dimmed hall lights, and short runtimes. These events usually take place on the second Sunday of the month at Cineplex; the online page lists the specific dates and films. Tickets here cost €4 (loge/parquet) or €6 (premium). Family previews on Sundays allow a look at upcoming children's and family films before their national release in a friendly atmosphere. The mascots Plexi & Luxi serve as charming companions, bringing joy to children with small surprises and their own menu: The Plexi menu combines popcorn, soft drink, and a gift, while the Luxi menu offers nachos, soft drink, and a gift – ideal as a comprehensive worry-free package for the first visit. Beyond that, the snack offer is classic and tried-and-true: fresh popcorn, crunchy nachos with dips, ice cream, and chilled drinks. For families, it is advisable to choose seats the day before and arrive a few minutes early to get snacks without haste and store jackets calmly. Tip: Those who pay attention to the sound level will do well with “Your First Cinema Visit” or early afternoon screenings; tech fans among the kids will be amazed in ULTIMATE halls by clear images and spatial sound, while active teenagers love D-Box outings – with individually adjustable intensity.

Opening hours, contact, service & vouchers: well prepared for the experience

The opening hours of Cineplex Passau are based on the schedule: it opens at least 20 minutes before the first show of the day, and after the last show, the cinema remains open for at least 15 minutes. This ensures that you can pick up tickets, buy snacks, and arrive calmly. If you have questions, the team can be reached at the phone number 0851 988 355 0. For ticket purchases, a MEIN CINEPLEX account is provided; this allows you to manage purchases, save favorite seats, and adjust newsletter settings. The seating plan shows you all available seats; the so-called seating rules ensure that no unfavorable single seats remain free – the system may adjust bookings to ensure optimal occupancy. If you are looking for value vouchers or gifts, the Cineplex shop offers different variants: classic value vouchers (e.g., €10, €25, or €50), often valid for three years from purchase, sometimes as a card in credit card format or as an online PDF for printing. You can usually redeem these at the cinema and online for tickets and snacks; the specific information on the respective voucher is decisive. You can also secure price advantages with recurring promotions like the O2 Cinema Day (Thursdays, 2-for-1 voucher in participating houses; special events, premium/D-Box seats are excluded). Generally, it applies: online tickets are €1 cheaper than at the box office; 3D and extended lengths are clearly indicated; different rates apply for special formats (opera, ballet, festivals) that are listed in the offer. Combine this with the central location at ZOB and direct access from the Central Garage – then a spontaneous idea quickly becomes a perfectly organized cinema visit. For feedback, lost items, or special requests, it’s worth checking the cinema's FAQ; there are many practical answers available – from youth protection and age ratings to questions about how to purchase and redeem vouchers.

Great cinema in Passau, since a modernization there are now terminals for ordering food and buying tickets similar to McDonald's. In one of the theaters, there are now so-called D-Box seats that move slightly during the movie, which reminds me a bit of 4D cinemas. The intensity can be adjusted with a control on the seat or completely turned off. For someone like me who rarely goes to the cinema, it's quite nice, although at €16.50 it's not exactly cheap. Staff are mostly friendly, and the theaters are always clean.

We were there on December 12th for Zootopia 2. The movie itself and the reclining seats were really nice, and the film was great too. The selection of menus for food is also very good. On the downside, we found the parking situation to be an issue. There is a directly adjacent parking garage, but it has poor signage. Additionally, it's no longer possible for moviegoers to validate their parking tickets by showing a movie ticket as before. Apparently, the collaboration between the cinema and the parking garage operator has been terminated. So you have to budget at least €6 extra for each cinema visit. Furthermore, we found the snacks on site to be rather tasteless. The nachos were bland, and the cola was watered down. For these reasons, unfortunately only 3 stars overall.

Great cinema, clean and well-maintained but not the cheapest - tickets like popcorn - but reserving is quick and ordering through the PC for things like cola and popcorn went very fast.

What I need to get off my chest is that, unfortunately, such incidents can happen, which is annoying, but just because apparently someone messed up, you can't generalize about everyone. It's the staff who make every day something really special, that's the real event, right???? A mega team 🍀🍀🍀

A very good cinema. It has become even better after the renovation. Modern technology and clean restrooms! We like to go there (to the cinema), restroom afterwards 😀 Super friendly staff.
